Question - How to make a piece of art that I love from my favourite drink? Solution - take all the shapes and colours as abstract elements, use watercolour to create depth , add a splash (pun intended) of mid century inspiration and TA DA! This is my Desconstructed Cocktail print. I will hang it on my wall, watch this space.
When Lilla set the July brief to draw our favourite beverage, I immediately thought of alcohol! Oh dear! what does that say about me! Actually, my favourite tipple is a gin and tonic in a tall glass with lime, but after drawing that, I progressed onto all sorts of cocktails and started researching recipes, glass shapes and sizes. Living in Bondi, this isn't hard, there is no shortage of venues to get new inspiration! See sketch below.
I am really happy with the final print made for the main assignment. It is something I will hang on my wall and it is in the style of art I want to make. This was the final assigmnet from bootcamp this year and I have loved every minute of it. Thanks Lilla Rogers and Beth Kempton. It has helped me clarify where I want to be and the kind of art I want to make. Keep watching this space, I have lots of plans in the pipeline and new artworks coming soon.
